The Feed-Smart Automatic Feeder was designed and built by horse owners who, after losing a mare and her foal to feeding issues while they were out of town, saw the need for a better and more innovative way to feed horses and other livestock.
We use heavy-duty materials and components capable of withstanding a much greater load than our feeders require. A Feed-Smart feeder is a one-time investment in your animals — and assurance that they are being fed the way you want, whether you're home or not.

How it works

- Fill the hopper with a loose, dry feed such as uncoated pellets or oats.
- Set the timer for up to six feed times a day. We recommend at least four.
- The sun does the rest. The solar panel keeps the battery charged, so feedings happen on schedule no matter the weather — no barn wiring, no tripped breakers.
- Feed stays fresh for many weeks thanks to the hopper design and the fact that feed moves at every feeding.

How does the Feed-Smart Automatic Feeder work?
The feeder is completely self-contained. A solar-charged battery powers a motor and timer that dispense feed from the hopper into the pan below at the times you set — up to six feedings a day.
How long will the feeder last?
It's made of galvanized steel for decades of use, with heavy-duty components rated well beyond the load the feeder requires. As horse owners, we built our feeders to outlive the animals they feed.
What livestock can I feed with it?
Horses, cattle, ponies, mules, donkeys, sheep, goats and deer — and our customers have used it for llamas, too.
What kind of feed can I use?
As with any automatic feeder, use a loose, dry feed — like an uncoated pellet or oats.
How long does feed stay fresh in the hopper?
Many weeks. The hopper design, plus the fact that feed moves at each feeding, keeps it fresh.
Which size is right for me?
The full-size Feed-Smart holds 500–550 lb; the Feed-Smart Jr. holds about 300–350 lb. Tell us your herd size and species in the quote form and we'll recommend the right fit.
